- Cue/Question Column (Left Side, ~30% of the page): This column is your "active thinking" space. This is where the real learning happens.
- As the professor speaks, what questions pop into your head? ("Why does this only apply to mammals?") Write them here.
- Formulate potential exam questions. ("How would I compare and contrast Theory A and Theory B?")
- Note connections to other lectures or even other courses. ("This links back to what we discussed about economic policy last week.")

- Summarize (2 mins): At the very bottom of your notes page, write a 2-4 sentence summary of the entire lecture. If you can't do this, you didn't understand the lecture, and you need to identify the gaps now, not the night before the exam.
